The judges found it to be barrel/oak-forward with good balance.

Brilliant, medium amber color. The aromatics are very intense, giving scents of baking spices and cardamon with supporting notes of baked apple, apricot stone, cola nut, and ginger. The palate echoes the nose delivering a dried fruits-driven core with flavors akin to candied ginger, oak, fruitcake, and sultanas. The finish is tart. Medium to full-bodied and pleasingly balanced with a succulent texture.
